The Civic Museum of The Straw Obelisk and The Mysteries of Paper Mache
Located in the former stables of the Franciscan Monastery, the Museum of Mysteries unfolds along a path marked by cells, raised floors and wide rooms that accompany the visitor throughout the stages of the Passion of Christ.
Inside the Museum of Mysteries, you can learn the main methods of processing paper Mache thanks to audio-visual teaching aids and the presence of a media room.
The ‘Museum of Carro’ opened to the public since 2005, is housed on the first floor of the church of St. Francesco, in the Municipality of Mirabella Eclano.
The museum hosts some original parts of the seven registers that make up the ‘Carro’ (obelisk) and inside there is also a permanent exhibition of photographs illustrating the history of the ‘Carro’ since its first draft dated in 1869, covering the main phases of its construction until the most significant moment of the ‘tirata’.
